PHENIX CITY, AL> For the second year in a row, Harris Universe cosplay camp is being hosted by popular cosplayer and founder, Jessie Harris. Since the camps inception in 2017, Jessie has maintained a strong passion for instructing campers on the values of self expression, confidence and creativity through the implementation of the organizations mission statement: "To educate, empower and inspire children through the use of cosplay as a self expressive medium."
Campers learn skills such as fashion design, prop design and fabrication, sewing and character building. Essentially, they learn to create, and do, their own cosplay character from start to finish. This camp is essentially not only to the cosplay community, but to Harris's local community as well. Cosplay camp is a melting pot of campers who come together to learn and create together. The importance lies within team building through encouraging and empowering individual attributes. Power in uniqueness, education and perseverance.
Jessie, also known by his cosplay name MistaSupaBoy, is a popular cosplayer who's been seen at Wizard World conventions, Dragon Con, and most recently, The Great Philadelphia Comic Con. Be sure to follow Harris Universe on Facebook for the latest updates! Harris Universe's long term goal is to expand this type of camp to neighboring states and are in talks with Pennsylvania based company, Hampton Impressions, to bring cosplay camp to the Greater Philadelphia Area in 2019.
